The teacher will show some pictures of Nelson Mandela and make them recall some information about him. 2. The teacher will guide the students to know that Mandela spent his whole life helping the black in South Africa, including Elias. 3. Who is Elias? Step 2. Pre- reading 1. Listen to the tape and write down the main idea. The main idea is the three reasons why Elias joined the ANC Youth League. 2. Introduce some information about Robben Island? “ This is a special island, which was used to be the prison for political prisoners of South Africa. Mandala was imprisoned in this island in 1964 and was moved to another prison until 1984. So what happened in the island that time?
